Who We Are

Reconnecting Spirit with Practice

The East Coast Community & Welfare Center (ECWC) was established with a simple but important realization: over time, religious rituals often continue, but the spirit behind them begins to fade.

Building Strong Communities

Islam provides a powerful system for building strong communities. Through Salah, Muslims meet one another five times a day. Through Zakah, social responsibility and care for the needy are meant to be firmly established.

Yet today, despite praying together regularly, many Muslims remain strangers to one another. The sense of brotherhood, care, and shared responsibility is often missing.

Our Priorities

1

Correcting Beliefs First

Many masjids focus on Salah but ignore major issues related to incorrect beliefs, bid‘ah, and shirk. We believe these must be corrected with clarity and wisdom before anything else.

2

Reviving Zakah & Welfare

The Qur’an repeatedly mentions Salah and Zakah together. We aim to establish organized systems for Zakah and community welfare, ensuring no one is left behind.

Our Beginning

We have taken the first step by establishing a community center along with a prayer hall in Palavakkam, East Coast Road (ECR), Chennai. This space is meant not only for prayer, but also for connection, learning, and community building.

Our Vision

Our vision is broad and long-term. We aspire to establish:

  • A full-fledged mosque
  • A Hifdh school integrated with the NIOS syllabus
  • Educational initiatives and, in time, a school
  • Skill development programs for youth
  • Community outings and activities that strengthen bonds
  • A comprehensive support system for religious and social needs

Learning & Knowledge

Within the masjid, we plan to establish:

Study Hall

A quiet space for reading and reflection

Educational Studio

Creating high-quality Islamic content

Islamic Library

Vibrant and complete resources

Resolution Center

For counselling and dispute resolution

“These spaces are intended to encourage learning, reflection, and a deeper understanding of Islam.”

One Goal

Our aim is not just to gather people for rituals, but to build a conscious, caring, and informed community—one that practices Islam with understanding, correct belief, and mutual responsibility.

Be Part of This Initiative

You can support this effort by volunteering, contributing, or helping in any way you are able. Together, we can build a community that lives Islam fully—both in practice and in spirit.
